Standard coverage: a laminate / luxury-vinyl-plank box typically covers ~18–24 sq ft (NWFA-style carton yields); a case of ceramic/porcelain tile ~10–15 sq ft. Waste of 10% is standard for straight layouts (NWFA / installer guidance).
